From helper to owner
Osmar began his career in 2010 as a helper at another masonry company. He moved into the office and took on office operations, marketing, sales, project management, and fleet purchasing and maintenance before becoming general manager. Along the way, he helped the business grow and modernize by putting systems in place across its operations.
That experience taught him the business inside and out, including how to anticipate problems and work through them before they disrupt a job. On February 2, 2017, at age 27, he took the risk of starting Houston Pro Masonry. In his words, he clocked in that day and never clocked out.
The company today
Houston Pro Masonry runs four service trucks and its own crews for brick, stone, block, and concrete, with a separate team for fire, water, and storm damage restoration, including insurance loss work. Projects range from a single cracked lintel to work up to $500,000.
Most of the work is in Houston, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land, and Cypress, and the crews cover roughly an 80-mile radius. HPM also serves projects in Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, and Beaumont.
Staying current
HPM is a member of the Greater Houston Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI), the association for HOA boards and community managers, and Osmar attends Google seminars and Better Business Bureau meetings to keep up with how customers find and judge contractors.
More than masonry
Alongside the trade, Osmar has a background in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing design, AutoCAD, web development, and marketing. He manages the company’s website and marketing himself, so if you found HPM online, that was his work too.
Off the clock
Osmar lives in Katy with his family and volunteers with Katy ISD FFA. He is studying astronautics and enjoys astrophotography, fishing, boating, car restoration, traveling, and spending time with his dogs. Learning and self-improvement are part of his everyday life, alongside his dedication to HPM and every customer.
