The work
Cracked and failing mortar is cut out and the joints are repointed with fresh mortar.
Hairline cracks in brick and mortar can be repaired cosmetically so they blend in; on most walls you would have to know where to look. We also tell you whether a crack is cosmetic or a sign of something structural.
Broken or missing brick is cut out and replaced, from a few bricks to full sections of wall.
Mortar color and texture vary from house to house, so we match a mix to your existing joints, home by home, and mix it on site. Weathered mortar can never be matched exactly, but a custom mix comes as close as practical.
When your brick is no longer made, we match its size and texture as closely as practical and custom-stain the replacement brick to help it blend.
Low walls, planters, and columns that are too damaged to repair are taken down and rebuilt.
Water around a window can enter through failed perimeter caulk, cracked mortar or brick at the opening, or masonry cracks around a rusted lintel. We inspect the exterior opening and surrounding masonry for likely water entry points before recommending repairs.
We recaulk window and door perimeter joints, repair damaged brick and mortar, and replace rusted lintels where needed. A breathable masonry water repellent may help suitable exterior brick; it does not replace needed joint or masonry repairs.
Weep holes let water drain from behind the brick. If existing weep holes have been mortared or caulked shut, we reopen them to restore their drainage path.
Our work covers exterior masonry and perimeter joints. We do not provide window replacement or glass repair.

In the Heights, the Museum District, River Oaks, West University Place, and Bellaire, we renovate brick from the 1910s to the 1930s. Old brick is softer and was laid in lime-rich mortar, so we match the mortar’s strength as well as its color; hard modern mortar can damage it. Repairs are blended into brick that has weathered for a century, as closely as practical.

Yes. We renovate century-old brick in Houston’s older neighborhoods. The main difference is the mortar: old brick was laid in soft, lime-rich mortar, and repointing it with hard modern mortar can crack and spall the brick. We match the strength and the color, and we tell you up front how close the match can be on brick that has weathered for a century.
As closely as practical. We custom-mix mortar on site to blend with your existing joints. If the original brick is no longer available, we find the closest size and texture and custom-stain it to blend. The goal is a repair that doesn’t draw the eye. With weathered or discontinued brick an exact match isn’t always possible, and we tell you that up front.
It depends on how wide it is, whether it’s growing, and what’s causing it. Stair-step cracks follow the mortar joints and are often linked to movement in the soil or foundation under the wall. Houston’s clay soils shrink and swell with moisture. Some cracks are old and stable; others are still moving. We look at the pattern and explain what we see before recommending a repair.
No. We repair the masonry itself. If the cracks suggest the foundation is moving, we tell you so you can have it evaluated by a foundation specialist before or alongside the masonry work.
It depends on the scope. A small crack repair can be quick, while several cracks or careful mortar matching can take a full day or more. Larger rebuilds take longer. Your estimate includes the expected schedule.
We coordinate permits and inspections when the project and jurisdiction require them.
No. We work with brick, stone, block, and concrete. We don’t offer stucco or sandblasting.
